IMO the cabinets should be placed on a plinth base to raise them off the floor.

I think the cabinets should be wider since you have the room. The wall could look a bit more professional with some minor adjustments.

Here are examples of what others have placed on either side of the fireplace.

The pine look nice with your white fireplace, just put a varnish on the pine. The cabinets right next to the fireplace doesn't look right, as shown below, move them over on both sides. Frame all picture in slim black frames, hang some curtains and

place accent pillows for a more finished look.
