I think the height you think you need is incorrect.

I’m with Beverly. The end table shouldn’t be below the top of the roll arm- or not by much, maybe an inch. Ok, there’s wiggle room but point is, if you expect to be able to reach for a cup of coffee or a book, you don’t want reach substantially downwards. So shouldn’t expect the tabletop to be waaay below the arm, such as level with the cushions.

You might find leggier, more delicate ( not too) table to work better than cube-ish ones— and smaller tops, not teensie but not full depth of sofa. That tends not to obscure the lines of the sofa as much. Maybe glass top also. There are photos of the sofa shown with various end tables.

You rarely see two tables with this type of couch and when you do, they are quite different. If you want the arms to be noticed as you enter, add a smaller style there and ensure the other one has a heavier feel. The coffee table Is usually the more functional piece.

Hard to be specific without knowing how traditional or eclectic you are heading and seeing the couch, where is it placed and how room is accessorized.

Wow thank you all for the speedy responses and suggestions! Here is the room. I originally intended to use the glass and mirror tables now placed at back of room but they were too tall.

Your sofa is lovely, but it looks like it isn't an English roll arm, just a roll arm. An English roll arm curves from front to back, as seen in the photos BeverlyFLADeziner and Maureen posted.

You could do a table that's approximately the height of the top of the roll arm, or one that hits below the roll. Here's a Pottery Barn picture that shows both approaches:

Personally, I think the one that hits at the top of the arm is more attractive, and would probably be more functional if you intend to set drinks or eyeglasses on your side tables, but if you want to showcase the look of the rolled arm, you could always opt for the lower table. Those metal frame tables with glass were not the right scale for the sofas. You can't have a table so light in appearance next to the sofa. The setting requires balance.

Consider the tables’ functionality/your needs and how they are adding to the overall room regarding proportions, weight/style vs just focussing on the arms being appreciated. How you accessorize them ss well will make a difference height wise. A floor lamp on one side could be an option also.

Hope you don’t mind some other ideas as I feel the room and fireplace need a bit more layering. Perhaps you just haven’t gotten there yet, or are not interested. Have you considered adding anything to the sides of the fireplace or to the mantle.

Maybe try the chairs closer to each other and straighten, then table will feel more appropriate. Could eventually add a console, lamp and large art next to the window to balance that side of room.

Coffee table accessories will add interest.

Would you consider an ottoman as an end table?
