Since you have the holes, I suggest you place the pictures there and move the footstool elsewhere to live a bit with them in place. It may be that you’ll conclude that it looks better with just four pictures, but it’s worth a try since you already have holes to repair! Good luck!

We think the four pictures work really well. Just use spackle on the holes and paint over the holes if needed.
