I would skip island seating when you have a table right there. It is just going to make things crowded. You will never regret having that extra storage.

Your dimensions aren't legible on my computer screen. What is the distance between the table and the island? I'm wondering whether you will have good clearance there with a 48" wide island. But maybe that's just all the chair sketches making the space look small.

We aren't big on sitting at kitchen islands. My kitchen is oriented differently from yours, so I only put 2 stools on the shorter end. We rarely use the stools and have a kitchen table a few feet away and a formal dining room a few more feet further away. The stools that we did use are comfortable and upholstered with custom fabric on the seat and back. We got nice stools as we only needed 2!

What is the distance from the back of the stools to the back of the chairs at the table? It looks tight in the diagram.

Thanks! i was thinking the same re:storage. in the photo from the edge of the countertop to the edge of the table is 53 inches. it doesnt say for stools, i guess because size of stool would depend on what i picked.

53 inches is a little tight for stools and chairs that back to each other. It's nice to have 60" if you want to be abel to walk through that path while people are seated on each side.

Your island has a sink. NO ONE wants to sit near sink scum. So no don't waste the footage/storage or cost of stools.

I would keep the stools and not put the kitchen table next to the island. People like to sit on the stools at the island as long as the water isn't on in the sink while there sitting there.

We can't blow up your kitchen plan. That said? It looks very CROWDED. Stools or no stools

Show the entire first floor plan, and separate kitchen in jpeg. legible, blow up format.

We use our island stools all the time and we have a sink there. No one seems to mind.

But not at 53". It's too narrow.

The island would be tight at 38" without stools, adding 10" because of no stools is also way too tight.

The bar/built in right of table crowds the entire kitchen, and the dining table area. Just looks a lot stuffed, forces table off center of slider. Too much.........: (

I agree it looks very crowded but only you know how you use your kitcehn. I too have 2 stools at the end of my island we use them all the time . We are just 2 so often eat there and for sure breakfast , we have a TV in the kitchen so watch the news in the morning..I would suggest you do the kitchen plan posted her ein jpeg so we can actually read it . Just from what I see there this is not a good plan

Because your sink and range are directly opposite each other, make sure you have at least 48" between them. I can't tell from the drawing how much space there is. I agree with no stools and don't make the island so large that it impinges on the table. If you have 4-6 people getting up and down you will want plenty of room.

While everything does look quite crowded I will say that island seating is very useful. Our dining table is right beside our island and we still use our island every single day. Kids do homework at it, we eat snacks there, chat with someone cooking tejre, eat breakfast there. We have a similar layout as you but don’t have a second sink. While we have zero issues with sink in island and in fact find people enjoy sitting at island despite supposed sink scum if I had a second sink on an wall area I would remove the island one for a cleaner look overall.

No stools. Island is 4X3 (not huge but functional with good storage underneath and two drawers). Kitchen table nearby. People can sit at the table and stay out of my way!

If you do a sink, be careful to leave plenty of space around it...I sat at a Waffle House counter close to a sink once, and soapy dishwater got splashed onto my food!

Most people are not washing dishes while people are actively eating at the counter. The problems with proximity to water with island seating is blown out of proportion.

Back to back seating shoudl have 5' minimum. If you have an adjacent dining room that seats 16 you need to decide what's more important to you. You have 3 different spots for meal seating but not enough space for all of them. If you want all 3, give each the required space.
