I like when buds have this quality

last year
last modified: last year

I don't know what to call this. I have a few roses that produce buds that are covered in dark pink to dark red... Whatever it is all over! Maybe someone knows the name. Anyway, I like the way it looks! Anyone else share a fondness for these types of buds? Got any roses that have this type of look? I admire it every year.
Himmelsauge is covered in it, and High Country Banshee as well.

    Thank you, Erasmus.

Sheila, there seems to be some debate on HMF as to whether the "Himmelsauge" in commerce is actually Russeliana or not. When my plant blooms I would love to hear what you think of it, since I know you've got Russeliana. But if you've never seen a bud in your garden with these dark red glands on it, maybe they are indeed different roses.

I'm a bud fanatic Magpie. My son Ben that lives in Washington wanted my Crested Moss , someday I hope I'll have another.

If I remember right Sidonie's silky pink buds were among the most beautiful with a feathery headdress . Somehow I erased my entire garden file of photos and plans .

    From psalm 103 :

"As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth. For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more. But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children; "

I've quoted this before (from 'The Glories of our Power and State'):

"Only the actions of the just/Smell sweet and blossom in the dust."

I must go out and check the buds on my 'Russelliana'. Would have done it before, but it's at the other end of the garden.
