Sports-proof windows

We are installing new windows in our basement, where occasionally a soccer ball may hit it with great force (from within the basement). Right now we have blinds in front which so far has kept windows from breaking. I would love to not have to keep them down all the time, and have something a bit more break proof. What is the best type of window option for this situation? Would tempered glass work?

Get a window that meets Miami Dade hurricane standards. No one's putting a soccer ball through that.

Tempered glass would be your best choice, yes.

A window assembly built to withstand hurricane force wind and water infiltration are somewhat less important for your needs than simply getting the glass type with greater impact resistance.

Put a metal grill across the window for now and remove when this period in your life is over.

We decided to go with tempered glass... and if a panel breaks then we'll go with metal grills over the windows. Thanks for the idea! :)
