What was the intent of the designer?

I think it looks fine as rendered. What are your reservations about it?

While I’m relatively happy with the front of the house, my concern is the side. It’s visible from the road and seems very simple with just the stucco siding.

One side is mostly garage door, the other has an interesting window arrangement. Wrapping the stucco on the front around the sides is appropriate and functional. Not sure why you're concerned.

It is concerning that you seem to be focusing in the front elevation and leaving the other sides of the house to happenstance. This is why a lot of houses have crappy designs

Looks gorgeous to me. Perhaps you could add some of the wood colored horizontal over the garage door area if you think it needs something.

The height of the side windows differs from the rendition and the height of the front windows. I'm not seeing the advantage. Bottoms line up.
