Have you looked at lead times from other companies like Heritage tile? They make custom color windmills aka pinwheels. Their sub-division Subway Tile might be the one that does these kinds of floor tiles. Their lead times could be just as long but worth a shot.

I'm not sure what you mean by making a mold. Have you asked your installer about cutting out the middle to replace with another? Will slicing out the dots on the back shift the tile too much?

Have you looked at this blue and white? Don't know if the blue is the shade you are looking for.

I'm a fan of the pattern for sure. I have the original 1938 pattern in my bathroom with a black dot in the middle.

Heritage tile has some beautiful tiles and they have a Chicago area showroom! Thanks so much! I will check them out.
My husband was going to order the custom tile and in the meantime try to experiment and see if he could swap out the tiles by building some kind of latex mold and reglue the tiles. If it worked we could use custom order for other bathroom. Contractor said would be super expensive and not look great. So, doesn’t want to do it.

The glue dots can be easily melted out with a soldering iron or wood burning iron. Lay the tile, without the center dots, and pop in the blue squares, with spacers, as you go. Or, turn over the dotless mosaics, add spacers, and blob a bit of hot melt on it, just like was used originally. This isn't all that. There are tile guys that buy whole sheets of plain colored mosaics to cut into strips and make tile rugs, so either your tile guy isn't a tile guy, or he is a very lightly experienced tile guy.

BTW, I'm ordering a custom vintage Keystones pattern right now, and the lead time is only 12 weeks. It's pretty simple to do with Daltile. Takes a day or two for the paperwork.
