Glass Panel (Window) in Shower Wall

We are adding a bath in an attic space remodel. We have low sloped ceilings and plumbing constraints, so coming up with a design has been a buggar!

After several plans we started framing and the inspector made us change it because there wasn't enough ceiling height directily in front of the commode. Yikes! We have finally landed on a design that the inspector will approve and are re-doing some framing and plumbing.

The 32 x 30 shower will have 3 solid walls and a shower curtain. In the photo below, the framed 1/2 wall you see when you enter the bathroom now has to be a full wall so we have a wall on both sides of the doorway to attach a curtain rod. I'd like put a glass panel in that wall looking into the shower.

Has anyone put or seen a fixed glass "window" in a full shower wall?

I would like for it to be as sleek as possible with no trim. The only examples I've found online are these - but I'd like for it to be way sleeker!!! Any ideas???

Well, I can certainly see why you want a curtain. With a tiny shower, brushing against a curtain with an elbow can give you valuable fractions of inches, rather than the unyielding glass door. Which, given the tight angle on the ceiling, would be extremely tricky to swing open (would one even work?). Because a slider sure wouldn't. So, you need something to put your curtain rod on. If that can be done on glass walls, great. Otherwise, the window idea isn't bad. Just watch that waterproofing.

Looks silly. A 30”x32” shower is also quite small and virtually unusable.

For what reason? IMO the walls of the shower should be glass to give at least a feel for some space you barely have room for a opening why not a glass door insted of a curtain .

I agree with Patricia - the shower is pretty small - using as much glass as possible will make it feel less claustrophobic for the person using it.

Thanks @GW ! Woo! So glad someone is understanding the situation! How I WISH we could have glass walls! It's been a long, hard journey in an 80+ year old house! Our architect's drawing didn't work when we opened the walls and saw where the plumbing had to go. Our second go was framed and rough plumbed when the inspector said we didn't have enough height clearance in front of the commode. So to make this small and much needed bathroom work, we have moved an AC unit so the commode can go there, and to insure enough ceiling height in front of the sink, we shifted the shower just a few inches which took away our glass door swing clearance. As much as I loathe the idea of a curtain, there's just no other way. We have tried! A door would have to be below 6' height and our tall grandsons who will use this shower when visiting will splash water everywhere over a door that low.

So no, we aren't making this small bathroom as a major player. We are redoing a poorly done attic space so our grandkids will have a bedroom, hangout area and bathroom when they visit a couple of times a year.

And I'm thinking if we solid surface all 4 sides of the opening, a glass company should be able to fix a glass panel with clips and silicone just like if it was glass on top of a half wall.

Were you able to do this? I have a similar question -- for a tub/shower configuration, where a wall separates the bathing space from a toilet.
