IMO as close to the flooring as possible since the 2 oaks are for sure not going to be exact .The choices are confusing BTW I do not even know which floor is the one you have but close to the floor as possible IMO

Thanks! 1 is the floor stain; 2 is just a seal; and 3 and 4 are totally different stains.

I’m just afraid if I do 1, I’ll hate it like I do the floors.

Since you don't like the floors, I would stop the entire process until you decide what you want to do with them.

As I see it, you have 4 options:

1. Learn to love the floors you have.

2. Refinish the floors and hope for results that you like better.

3. Rip out the floors and replace with something else (I would suggest pre-finished so you know exactly what you are getting, since that is of concern to you).

4. Decide you will hate the floors so much that you just move.

I offer these options "tongue in cheek", because I really think your floors are fine just the way they are. They just aren't quite what you expected.

But seriously, don't rush into the railings until you have peace with the floors. It's not worth the anxiety.

Oh I am sad to hear you don't like the floors. I love the color you have. And I would pick the rails wood as close to the floors as possible.

But...get the floors you love. Redo the floors so you can enjoy the space.

If you are going to have a wood handrail would suggest you match as closely as you can to the wood flooring.
