We need a lot more info and the to scale floor plan is where to start Do it on graph paper it makes it easier . Every window , doorway where those lead . Every measurement clearly marked and alot more info as to what you want from the space . You have awesome views but I do not see an actual dining table and the bike is not a great decor piece . Do you have a nice view from the bedroom? We need you to show the whole apartment in that floor plan please Post the plan here in jepg format in a comment DO NOT start another post all things relating to this are now dealt with here in comments .

Can you tell us what is NOT working that you are trying to find a solution for?

You have exercise machine? Is there another place for it or must it stay in the common area? Do you want a dining table instead of a bar height table? How many bedrooms do you have? That sort of thing.

Here is a pic of my exact floor plan. I will need some time to get proper measurements - that said, the exercise machine is fairly tough to move. I could technically move it outside to the smaller balcony for the summer months when it’s not raining but that is still not preferable. Overall I wanted some thoughts / advice on improving the layout of my apartment - I am open to upgrading furniture. The dining table is the white table in the kitchen and doubles as a cooking area. It is just the one bedroom - I am new to this entire thing so maybe I will wait to hear what you guys have to say about the floor plan i provided first.

we don't need any dimensions. There are no options for this space other than what is shown.

The arrangement in the plan is best for this small space. The only thing I would change would be to use a round dining table and chairs.

You need to decide, based on how you use the space, whether you want the taller dining table as a raised work area, or the shorter round table that you can also work on but might give more of a dining room look. Either is fine.

Celery doesn’t show your exercise machine. Can you move it down against the DR window rather than the LR window?

You also asked about redecoration. Sort of hard for us to come up with something out of thin air. Do you have preferences on color? White, gray (no), green, red sofa? You can look through ideas in Houzz Photos to start developing a sense of what pleases you and what doesn’t. Then come back with some ideas we can build on.

Do you need a big Dining Room and table? It seems like a lot of wasted space. Move the white table closer to the Kitchen and use it as a work station/dining table.

You could then move the sofa back and have a larger Living Room.

Replace the desk with one that can hold your computer screen so you don't have to work sideways.

The exercycle can go on the far wall I guess.

Seconding Beverly's idea for a round table, normal eating height, and four upholstered chairs around it that you can move into living room area when you have company. You have a decent space, so get a 48" tulip table. Ikea has a smaller one at a great price 41". Budget for comfortable dining chairs.

    Other thoughts:

--Good grief, get an under the sink slide-out garbage can. Don't have a visible garbage can in your dining space! Rev-a-Shelf from many big box stores is easy to install.

--Slide the exercise machine to the far window and have it facing out for the view. This will making the dining area more inviting since moving the machine will open up that view.

--Get a larger patterned rug so your sofa sits entirely on it. This will create a cozier "island" for TV watching and conversation. You have a really dramatic view, so a big abstract rug will work very well, especially with abstract art you have. (The second rug was from West Elm.) Get one in natural materials like wool since you have a lot of smooth surfaces.) Make sure pattern works on your light chocolate floors. Choose dining chairs from an accent color in the rug.

This West Elm rug has gray (sofa), brown (floor) and two accent colors that would work in your space.

That window next to the TV is begging for a big, live, tall plant. Rehome the ladder shelf, which doesn't add much to the space.

Not normal seating height for the dining room table or chairs. Stay with counter height. for both. You want to watch TV over the people sitting on the sofa.
