I like it and have Powis Castle artemesia in several places. It handles drought well, and is hardy. I have Silver King artemisia in another spot. It's tall and slender with slender leaves and can tolerate some shade. I think that one spreads some from the roots. Have had I think Silver Mound artemesia and while it was pretty, soft and ferny, it seems less tolerant of heat.

My Silver Mound died out (clay soil?). Powis Castle has been hardy - I have to trim it because it grows to shrub like proportions.

Yes, it is a good plant for dry gardens - I have a.stelleriana and, a bit riskily, planted a ludoviciana 'Silver Queen'. Remains to be seen how vigorous this is in dry, lean soil.

I have ballota pseudodictamnus and actually bought a buddleja (usually one for my 'hate and fear' list) 'Silver Anniversary'. Without any conscious effort, I seem to have a 'moon garden' bed at the allotment...which will be featuring artemisia.*

I have my grand-daughter here for the half-term...so will get her to use all her 12 year old techy know-how in yet another photo attempt...because I think (hope) this 'moon garden' bed will be rather lovely.

I have centaurea 'silver feathers', ammi majus, selinum carvifolium, seseli hippomaranthum, anthemis 'Susannah Mitchell', white sedum, white and lilac achillea, verbascum, white cosmos, gypsophila and so on.

Also I must say that I like people who watch videos about plants.

Thank you. The other grey plant is a sedum..don't know the name. The sedum is in a pot and survives winter fine. I have a few other silver leaved plants...lamb's ear, and rose campion. Mullein borders on grey...I like it mostly for the foliage. It's a tough one too...tends to come up only in gravelly soil. I think I read that many silver leaved plants are hairy and the hairs protect against harsh sun or water loss. They are more heat tolerant.

That said, I wonder if Canadian gardeners and people further north don't really need heat tolerant plants as much as gardeners further south. I get the impression that plants that like cool springs do better for people up north.

Perhaps, Rosaprimula, you could write a vivid description in vivid detail of your lovely moon garden . We can close our eyes and have someone read it to us so we can conjure the garden up in our minds’ eyes.

Aw Debs,,,it is already taking shape with the ammi I sowed last autumn towering majestically above the ghostly foliage of centaurea white feather, sedums, achillea (not yet flowering cos it got a Chelsea chop). and billowy stipa Ichu Just got to plant up the cosmos and gypsophilas. Hope it will be worthy of a better write-up when it hits it's stride in mid July.

I got a picture of Silver King artemesia a few days ago. It is in a shady spot under some roses and has some weeds for company.
