hail damage to several plants

We had a pretty severe hailstorm come through last night. It damaged several of my plants. Some lost almost all of their leaves but the stalks remain mostly in tact. Is there any chance of recovery or should I pull them and put in new starters?

As long as the plants haven't been decapitated they should recover in a short time. Check back here in 7-10 days and let us know how they look. We got clobbered by egg size hail a few years ago and things looked bleak for about a week before bouncing back.

Decapitated as in a cutworm cutting them off at soil level. With an intact main stem/stalk the plants will grow side shoots to replace the broken tops. The pepper plant in your pic should do a-ok with a little time, possibly push back the first harvest by a couple of weeks.

Hopefully my assessment is correct, please do update the progress. Sometimes insect pests will take advantage of distressed plants so you may need to keep an eye out for that possibility too. Wishing you a Happy Harvest!
