24 inch range choice

My new home has a tiny kitchen that would much better accommodate a 24 inch range over the 30 inch that is currently in the space.
I cook a lot for the two of us and want a good gas stove. I am currently considering a Thor brand or a Bertazonni. I know that GE and Frigidaire both have nice looking ones, but I cannot find any in stores to look at and touch.

I would appreciate any feedback on the Thor and Bertazzoni and any others that you have used. Thank you for your help!

I’ve only used a bettazonni at a vacation house we stay at yearly and it’s beautifully designed and does not work well. Controls are not I intuitive and the lighters are finicky.

This day and age I would recommend an induction stove anyhow…

Looking through the 24" gas ranges on Home Depot, you'd think that the Cosmo COS-EPGR244 was the highest rated by owners with a whopping 888 reviews but that's misleading because the review pull from the Cosmo website includes all Cosmo ranges, not just this 24" model. The Cosmo is identical to the Thor Kitchen LRG2401U with the exception of appearance and a much lower price. The GE 1003962122 and Haier QGAS740RMSS are also identical except for appearance and a slightly more useful control panel on the Haier.

I'd go with the Cosmo for gas. But I'd rather have induction such as this Blomberg BIRU24102SS though it requires a 240 volt circuit.

Thanks for the input! I was thinking that the Bertazzoni was too Italian - looks great but with functional limitations. I have considered them all but I can’t see any of them here in Little Rock. Perhaps I need to take a trip to NYC to actually see one in a showroom.

I considered induction, but it is going to be an expensive electrical upgrade, in addition to an expensive new stove. We shall see!

Yeah, you'd have to add a 240 volt circuit but you can buy a Frigidaire FCFI3083AS (30") for $1100, less than those 24" gas models.

The cleanup alone made me a convert, then there is the improved interior air quality…

As far as I know, there's no induction 24" range. I'd love to know if I'm wrong.

According to recent posts in the long running thread here on 24" induction ranges in North America, 24" induction range models are now available from Blomberg, Smeg, and Z-line. Here's the link: https://www.houzz.com/discussions/4419259/does-anyone-make-a-24-induction-range#n=72.

Reportedly, the Blomberg model is "not approved by the California Energy Commission (CEC) for sale in California" and may not be offered for sale there. Don't now about the Canadian and Mexican markets.

FWIW, the metric equivalent measure is 60 cm and numbers of such ranges are available in other markets. Some of those models are 50 and 60 Hz compatible.

    Thanks for the info

ajmadison will not ship the Blomberg BIRU24102SS to CA (but it will to CO or DC). It will ship the SMEG SPR24UIMX...and you can read the famous Prop 65 warning right on the site!

I have cooked on a 24” Wolf range (wonderful), but i don’t know if they still make them. BlueStar does, and Z-line has one too. I’ve not used either of these, but they are well rated.

BlueStar RCS24SBV2: $4200. For that price, he can add 240-volt wiring to his kitchen and buy an induction range.

If that’s what he wants to do. But then he’d have to buy an oven as well.

I decided to go with a 30 inch induction slide in. My kitchen designer assured me that he had tweaked the space to make it fit much better than the bulky one that is shoved up against the cabinet next to it. In addition, when the electrician came to give me an estimate, he figured out that there already was a 240 line there that had been converted to 120 when they put a gas stove in, so the electrical work will not be prohibitive! The flat surface will add useful work space when not being used to cook and it is sleek and modern. Win!

    Excellent news!
