Your apple trees look much healthier than mine (cedar rust here). New growth on the tips will most always appears a lighter shade of green before they turn darker so that shouldn't be a problem. Hail can bruise the young fruits but they generally survive ok but those deeper holes may be due to bird pecking. I'd thin out the worst looking apples in those clusters to leave one apple per cluster. When apples are touching each other as they grow it invites more problems down the line and smaller apples. Touching apples can rot over time where they touch each other. Not sure why the "stench"?
