I see no reason not to change I will say I think the whole gold thing is going to be a dated ook soon but what you want to change is not a big deal to change again. I have 2 commetn s one is island lighting should light the island and Edison bulbs never IMO anywhere in any space and in kitchen totally useless . As for stools why not choose a color I love stools to add a punch of color in a kitchen

yes, lighten up the door pulls and knobs, but find a light that doesn't show bare bulbs.

I don't see why you couldn't, but I like the dark hardware you have. Maybe just start with switching out the stools for something less visually heavy and then see if you're still itching for the gold hardware.

I love your ideas to warm up your kitchen and move away from all black and white. I would definitely do that!

I just got some champagne brass pulls from Amerock (color that Boxerpal showed) and love the color. It's not too brassy. :-)

You can easily add pops of gold around in your kitchen. You can even keep the black stools. Here are some kitchen designs of ours that might just give you some more inspiration.
