Why are my dianthus dying?! Help!

Hello! I just bought these flowers about 2 weeks ago and I was so excited to put these into pots in the backyard. About a week or so in I noticed that they are dying with new buds not even blooming fully. The pot does have a draining hole, we water it daily. We live in NYC, zone 7. It is placed in a sunny area with some partial shade. Is there something we are doing wrong? Can these plants be recovered?
