IMO the same floo as in the LR would be best I like continuous flooring through the whole main livong space

On my monitor, the tile that is only under the black cabinet sample seems to pick that color up a little bit better. It also looks a little bit less busy.

Your granite counters are going to be outstanding with all that movement.

I am tiny bit confused about the floors. Are you having 3 types of floor in your open floor plan? Wood, Tile that looks like wood and Juperana Granite? Are you able to keep it to two floor types or even all the same floor? Sometimes wood next to fake wood looks unappealing. It might work, but often this is not done.

I am sorry that I did not explain things better. The room that is to become my kitchen currently has a honey colored real wood floor. That floor is pretty banged up, and I do not want a wood floor in my new kitchen.

My living room (pictures below) has a glossy yellow juparana granite floor. The new kitchen will be an open concept kitchen that opens up from the living room. Even if I could find juparana tiles to match the living room floor (which I doubt), I would not want to have a glossy floor in my kitchen from a safety standpoint. So, I cannot have the same flooring in my living room and kitchen. My issue is then what flooring to install.

Picture #3 in the original set of pictures that I posted shows the two cabinet doors next to 2 different wood-look tiles as well as the existing honey colored wood floor that I intend to replace. I posted 2 different wood-look tiles to see which one looked better. I am only going to use 1 tile in the new kitchen. J Mig commented that the one wood-look tile that is only underneath the black cabinet is the better choice. Thank you J Mig!

I don't know if I am on the right track with the wood-look tiles, and if so, what color. Whatever I pick is not going to blend well with the existing juparana floor in the living room. But at least to me, it seems like the wood-look tile offends less, even though it is not real wood.

With a great deal of movement in your (stunning!) counters as well as in the adjoining tile floor, I'd opt for a very quiet, neutral and low variation tile in the kitchen rather than anything with movement or grain. For me, that would eliminate wood-look tile; IMO it could compete with the other elements.

Thank you Chicagoans! And everyone else too! That is a good observation about the grain. I have tried to zero in on wood-look tiles that have less variation and are larger tiles, as the larger tiles (at least to me) look less busy than smaller tiles in the same design.

I went to Daltile in downtown Chicago today and met with the designer there. They are going to send me a sample of wood-look Acrerage Stetson. I popped into Porcelenosa, since I was right here, and they are sending me some neutral non-wood-look tile. I lugged several samples home from Viriginia Tile too, but they are all too gray and perhaps too light (for me).

The lady talked me down from getting a light black soapstone tile sample--I should have grabbed that too, as the Ivory soapstone one is a bit pale for me, but I have in down on the floor to look at and see what I think. I have to pick soon. Eeek!
