Not a pro. The dark blue to me appears too stark, and the herringbone will look very similar to the solid. I would try lighter and more interesting pillows, such as cut velvet or a quiet pattern.

The painting behind the sofa would look much better if you raised it up just above the sofa. You want to see the bottom of the frame when you are across the room. You have plenty of ceiling height to raise it up.

Instead of navy pillows, how about navy trim, tassels, fringe, etc. on the pillows you already have.

I think the herringbone would look the same as what you have already. I’d look at something with some yellow in it.

I don't have a problem with either blue and think they are fine, but my guess why you don't like the first pillow is because it does not pick up the blue in the painting. The second pillow doesn't match the painting either, so I would think that you would be unhappy with it too.

Perhaps if you could incorporate some blue into your blinds (fabric strip across the top) or some blue on the top shelf of your bookcase, the blue would look more balanced across the room.
