Batik question.

I was working with some batik this afternoon and am wondering if any of you do what I was doing…looking at each piece, trying to decide which was the ’right’ side. Lots of flipping back and forth.

In the end, I don’t imagine it makes a ton of difference though, or does it?

I will share the pattern as I work it out.

Theresa, I think a true batik is the same on both sides. The dyeing process saturates the fabric. But I figure if I have a hard time distinguishing back and front, no one else will be able to, either!

I agree, Donna. If you like the look of one side more than the other, then make that the "right" side!

On some, I notice that there "seems" to be a right side, but on 99% of them, I can't tell the difference. I don't even bother looking any more. Just go for it, Theresa.

Sometimes you get a little dye in the white bits on the back of the fabric where the wax didn't quite soak through.

The top has been finished for a week or so but…

Like Rho said in her post, there are things going on in our lives that get in the way and slow us down. I did start quilting it and had a good bit finished but decided I didn’t like what I was doing, so there was a lot of frogging. Now working on another plan.
