I think to be safe use some pads under the planters just like for furniture . Porcelain is pretty tough but why take a chance .

I wondered about Patricia’s question too. Regardless, if you’re moving heavy planters on any flat surface, I’d be using plant caddies or plant dollies with wheels on them. I have all of my outdoor large planters sitting on one that holds up to 500 lbs. Heavy plastic type with wheels, cost @ $30, last forever, & not noticeable with planter sitting on it. Back saver.

I'm not sure porcelain tile is the best bet for Toronto climate. With ice and cold wet winters, porcelain could become slippery. You'd need to check with your tile supplier to be sure the tiles you choose are rated for outdoor use and can handle freeze/thaw conditions.

I'd consider something in a natural stone over porcelain.

I'm not sure what part of the city you are in.....here is an idea from Islington Nurseries - but there are lots of stone places around the area. Woodbridge and Vaughan are chock full of them......

We don't know the style of your house, but you could consider some random cut granite....

And the heavy planters....I'd put them on wheels.
