Help with selections

last year

Hi there!! Building a pool right now and pulling my hair out trying to decide on materials. Decision making is not my forte 😞 thought I would throw it on here for some help/advice. Photo below is the tile that will be on the spa and waterline along with the coping and deck samples. Still deciding on grout color and pebble sheen so any input is appreciated, thanks!!

Take a few tile samples and mount them onto a wood board. Any type of adhesive is fine for this.

Choose the grout samples and mix up small batch and grout the sample tiles.

Take them outside after they have dried where you intend to put the pool. This will give you a better idea how they will look in the natural light rather than floors in your house.

Same with the coping and deck choices.

Most gray plaster finishes from all companies will give a deep blue look in the shade and perhaps a bit lighter in direct sun.

Ask your contractor if you can see any work they did recently with the selections you have.

Nothing like seeing it in person.

Thanks so much for the response! I took a few pictures outside and I’m slightly panicking about the tile/coping choice 🫤 I’m about two seconds away from ditching the blue/gray tile for a white tile 😞 my family will kill me if I delay this project any longer so I would have to find something in stock but I’m not sure I’m liking the coping and tile together. Thoughts??

Maybe find a mosaic with some color variation so it doesn't all look plain gray.

I went with a different look, but you can see the mosaic with color variations to tie different elements together. The darker brown in the mosaic is picked up in the bronze/brown windows/doors, light fixtures and patio furniture.

    I agree with chispa.

I do like neutral colors but there is a bit much on the gray.

A tile line with some contrast and some of the colors of both the coping and plaster will look nice.

We use a lot of glass tile and it looks great at different times of the day.

Thanks for your help! Unfortunately I ran out of time 🫤 my husband wants this pool done by summer so I had to pull the trigger on tile and coping that was in stock. While it’s not my favorite it’s not horrible and I was trying to blend in a bit with the stone we already have in our yard 🤷‍♀️ I’m hoping once I get all the surrounding hardscape/landscape in it will be good. Just need to decide on a pebblesheen color now and we should be swimming by mid July 👍🏼

That looks good since the tile has some color variations and isn't just a plain gray.

Post an update when you are finished!

Got some grouting done today, it’s so crazy how much that changes things!! I am not disliking it as much anymore 🤷‍♀️

@kwilmers, what is the tile name/manufacturer you used for the waterline? And do you have a finished photo with the surfacing? Thank you :)
