Should I replace these ceiling lights?

There is a big one and there is a smaller one:) The big one is in the middle of the living room and the smaller one is in the passageway. Should I replace them or should I make peace with them? Rustic chandelier perhaps? Or something flush mount? Jute or rattan woven pendant? And should I replace the sconce lights as well?

Please note: In the meantime, the stonework on the island has been removed. The uppers will soon be removed and replaced with floating shelves. The TV bracket will be lowered. Curtain treatment will be linen or cotton sheer curtains and natural wood, bamboo, or grass shades. A jute, seagrass, or sisal rug will be beneath the living room furniture.

Feel free to provide any other design advice, no matter how random. All suggestions are welcome!

I'd plan to replace them. I find my ceiling fans are very effective at bringing in cool air at night. I might wait to see if you want a third one, once you're living in the house. Ditto replacing the wall lamps. They're in awkward spots. Do you need them for light? If yes, then, think about what you want. If not, ignore them.

When you are considering decorative fixtures, you need to get something that works with the rest of the space. What style are you going for? The fixtures that you posted don't look like they would work with every style--they're kind of all over the place.

It is a coastal town, so a Mediterranean style is the most popular vibe in the area.

Woven pendants are all the rage in our country right now. However, I'm not sure that my ceiling can handle that kind of look. I'm starting to see the wisdom in Elcieg's comment about keeping the lights simple;)

The lighting fixtures and placement there of, in that room is horrid. Assuming you are keeping the fans and they are useful as stated above I would want them to hang a bit lower and be statements. They have some with lovely light fixtures attached as well as decorative blades. The rest I would just remove not replace.

Take some time to think these through. It seems like the three lights are meant for the sitting area, a probable eating area and the kitchen/cooking area. Consider what style you want for each. Do you want a fan in the kitchen, or something that hugs the ceiling more? What about a nice multi-armed chandelier for the eating area? Is a fan-light in the sitting area practical?

Don’t rush these. Having the right type of fixture is your first decision, then make sure the placement is correct and then consider, the look for each one. A nice light doesn’t have to be expensive. Wayfair is a great place to browse. And Pinterest is great for design ideas.

Can you post some pictures of your furniture so we can see your style?

I-would consider painting the ceiling white..leaving the beams natural…for a brighter and more airy feeling…

Don't know what your plan is style wise but here's one idea:

    1. Replace fan with a black more modern style with or without light depending on your needs

    2. Cone shape black sconces with arm above windows

    3. Black wicker pendant for above space that seems to be for a dining area

Your home decoration looks a bit close to Mediterranean style? Mediterranean-style houses are usually suitable for matching lighting fixtures with ocean and natural elements, such as rattan chandeliers, ceramic wall lamps, wrought iron or stone chandeliers, etc., to coordinate and unify the lighting fixtures with the overall atmosphere. Professional home lighting offers you more choices.

yes, yes yes! what's there now are cheap boob lights from home depot. ceiling fan too. if you don't want to keep it, put in another light.

I love your ceilings!! beautiful wood. please don't paint them!

in those original lit homes, I noticed they had lights like these.

I suppose you could do recessed lights too.

But, you have some great options. let me show you some photoshops

I'd prob do an mcm globe light. they make them for slant ceilings so they hang straight

Either the flush mount or the pendant style

    these are original

The lights over the windows? replace those too

black sconces, woven black pendant, and a black/wood fan, more modern looking. I'd prob paint that door wall black, the others white. orig wood floors? terrazzo? awesome look!

I love these sconces. Hudson Valley lighting.

I just used these in another project over similar windows. they look really nice installed.

    (not completely done yet:

    diff sputnik style ceiling lights.

    gold sconces and globe sputniks

    rattan flush mounts, white sconces

    these danish lights were popular
