At this time of year, I wouldn't risk it. Also, if you have grown this shrub for the last 14 years, I am assuming it is not one of the new sterile cultivars on the market. In which case, I would strongly urge you to get rid of it and replace with a sterile variety. This is a class B listed noxious weed in Oregon and only a handful of sterile cultivars are allowed to be sold and planted.
