Blooming starting in earnest

Daylilies are really getting started here, many first blooms the past few days. Like Nancy posted today……it is so darn dry here. I managed to get 75% of my beds watered the past two days. Several early bloomers.

FFE on Rosy’s Cotton Ribbons. I am so happy with this daylily. It got added to the garden last fall and I have four fans and four scapes!

.Tall Dark Stranger started today.

Cameroons started today, FFE.

Cameroon Nights started today.

Easter Pastel started this week, a double bloom today.

Quasar Cutie started this week. It is on time, always early.

First bloom on Free Wheelin’. Wish it was more prolific, hubbie loves it.

Clump shot on Coyote Moon.

Little Light of Mine.

Boy Crazy is a victim of the constant 20-30mph winds here for the past week. These scapes were leaning down into the foliage, they got staked. Scapes are tall again this season 48”, not as tall as last season.

Rosie Cotton's Ribbons looks great for a first bloom! It bloomed very early here, and many days the flowers couldn't open or would open in the afternoon. When it opens like yours did, it is beautiful. That and Quasar Cutie are my favorites of these. I hope you get some rain soon!

Rosie Cotton's Ribbons is looking good for you. It is true that it is not a cold morning opener, one of its many flaws.

Free Wheelin' is looking good. Ours is ready to bite the dust. It was never very vigorous and now it is just dwindling. I am not a fan of lavender but I do like Quasar Cutie especially because of the shape of the eye.

Oh my goodness! How adorable! He makes my heart sing!!

Rosie Cotton’s Ribbons is so pretty. That bloom is almost perfect. I always like Quasar Cutie when you post it. Your Boy Crazy is paler than mine and I think I like your color better. Mine is more a rosy red and I have so many of those!!

Charlie is a cutie. QuasarCutie is a pretty one. I like Rosy Cotton's Ribbons, Tall Dark Stranger and Boy Crazy although your Boy Crazy looks very different from my red one.

Boy Crazy is more pale so far this season. It is a poor performer since i’ve had it…it may be leaving the garden.

A lot of blooms are paler in the heat. Easter Pastel is interesting as a double, even if unusual. Nice to see a consistent pattern on Quasar.

Nice grouping of blooms. Interesting color combination on Quasar Cutie. I like it. Tall Dark Stranger indeed is dark. Hope the winds calm down a bit. Hope you get some rain.

What a cute puppy. He looks quite pleased with himself. How about a nice kitty for a companion??-lol.........Your picture of Tall Dark Stranger is wonderful. And Cameroon Nights with the Hostas is another good one. I'm not into Hostas, but I'm pretty sure (unless there are some new introductions) that the two in our hot climate would not be able to grow well in the same spot. It's a lovely combination for you however and I always enjoy seeing your pictures..........Maryl

Maryl, that is an unusual spot in the garden where Cameroon Nights is placed. It is on the north side of my home. The hosta get some sun, the daylily gets mostly sun……. shadow from the house and a fence provides shade for the hosta.

.Tall Dark Stranger got crown rot last year and I lost all of it. Such an unusual look that always seems more obvious in person than photo. Many, many beautiful blooms but my favorite is Charlie!
