Need help choosing paint color for basement

We’re redoing our basement - new drop ceiling bead-board ( white) and rug. The rug I have tentatively chosen is a flat nylon pile in greys, blue and a little tan. I’m having trouble choosing a wall color above the baseboard- there’s no natural light- I’d like to perk up the room without painting any more greys or neutrals although these match the rug best. Im thinking a pale creamy yellow would be cheery but need one neutral enough to not look too bright with this very neutral rug. Any BM recs? Hepplewhite?

Since colors are not always true on a device I would advise getting swatches, then it you narrow down to 3 get paint samples. If you have a piece of the carpet, take to a paint store for color consult.

You will be shocked at how different neutrals look in a basement. My basement made everything look purple/lavendar, and after trying at least 8 colors I ended up using Behr Wheat Bread. It was nowhere near my original idea, but the lights just made colors a bit strange. So before you set your heart on a color, put a bunch of samples up.
