It's pretty steamy up here in my much milder location, Klark - 90 degrees. Supposed to be 95 tomorrow. Too dang hot for me!! And my new, all containerized garden is proving to be a challenge. As long as I have been gardening with containers, I cannot remember ever having to water on a daily basis. Fortunately, the garden is in more shade than sun through the hottest part of the afternoon which helps but learning how sunny and dry it really is has come with more challenges. I thought I had killed one of my Japanese maples by missing a watering earlier this spring but it is miraculously leafing out again after some liquid TLC. And my sweet peas are a joke! Most of the vines are crisp and brown with any green and flowers at the very tippy top....and not too many of them. My Little Honey oakleaf hydrangea is showing signs of scorch as are two nandinas and one hosta is quite crisp looking. But all in all, everything else is looking okay, if not wonderful.

Hi Pam! My snap peas are one of the bright spots, loaded with more pods than we can possibly eat. Been giving a lot of them to the neighbors. I've been coddling my H. Little Honey all summer, shading it with a patio chair. In this climate, it appears that Little Honey and pretty much all macs require total shade to avoid scorch and wilt.
