Paint the trim the same color you choose for the room... I have used SW Naval for color drenching, and have used SW Virtual Taupe (it reads like army green in my space)

We did our home office in barn red with white trim. New England antique house.

Neither green nor black for a north light room (unless the black has an unmistakable purple undertone).

Whatever you choose I would do the doors and trim in the same color inside that room. In my experience, colors will appear much colder in a north facing room than they do on the swatch.

My LR in my old place was distinctly greenish blue on the swatch, and almost powder blue on the walls in that light. The light blues I tried all looked really cold or purple toned.

IMO it matters not what direction the room faces but for sure you will need a ton of good lighting . After a choice of wall color make sure your lighting does not distort that color. I like all my lighting to be 4000K LED it works for me some are on dimmers but IMO you can never have too much lighting but you can find ways to control some

I have a beautiful deep teal in my office. My hubby scoffed until he saw it on my wall. Love it! Office is in front facing East so I get lots of sun.

I love your inkwell idea. It is already a dark paint so you won't be disappointed by having north facing light. Paint your doors and trim inkwell too. (I personally would also paint the ceiling inkwell. It will make the room look bigger to have the ceiling painted the same color. But, I realize not a lot of people will want to take that leap.)

Get good ceiling light and task light. Hang a mirror on one of the side walls close to the window and it will bring more light into the room.

I like the green. Definitely do all the trim, the doors and the ceiling.

I like warmer light, so I have 2700 LED, which I find comforting. 4000K is like daylight. Too cold for me.
