Possibly Grand Tiara but hard to tell at this point.

I think Gary’s right. Golden Tiara is a possibility as well, but the edging is more narrow on that one. According the Hosta Library, the leaf on Grand Tiara is a thicker leaf has more substance. IMO most of the Tiaras are very thin leafed and slugs love them. So check the thickness of the leaves. Both have purple flowers as do all the tiaras, I think.

It should regenerate fine given the right care. I would keep both eyes together unless one becomes problematic. It’s hard to tell as gary said. It needs more maturity.

This is one of my 'Grand Tiara', the leaf with the almost white edge was pretty much exposed to full sun, so it's a little bleached 😊

Thanks, everyone! It may be Grand Tiara, although I thought I had planted that elsewhere… It will take some time to fill out. Whatever this hosta is, I don’t remember planting anything at all where I found it!

It’s definitely not Golden Tiara because I have two of them…. here’s one of them — a fresh pic. This poor plant was crushed with the hose and enjoyed by slugs, snails, bunnies, deer. :)

omg, thank you, djacob! I thought it was weird damage for slugs/snails, but it’s what I expect. :) Now that you say that, I do recall seeing earwigs around a lot this year. That must be what got my crookneck squash seedlings. :p Slugs and snails are horrible for me this year, so I’ve started my attacks. I wouldn’t use vinegar though…. I find a 10:1 ratio of water and ammonia to be very effective against slugs/snails and their eggs and according to everything I’ve read it should act as a nitrogen source for the plants.

I have used ammonia for drenching as well. Just as effective. Sometimes I buy whatever I can find first at the best price.

As far as earwigs this year, tj is the one who told me they’re “voracious “ this year.

Nope, 'Platinum Tiara" has a much narrower edge, check the HL.

Thanks, Pieter. I’m looking again at your pic of Grand Tiara and I don’t recall ever having a Tiara hosta with such clearly spade/heart-shaped leaves. I’ll give it time to recover and grow… probably keep it potted and in some shade on the porch, then see what it looks like. :)
