I've seen where the TV came up from a cabinet or bench at the foot of the bed. Perhaps you can put the same mechanism in a console and have the TV come up from that. Or have it come down from the ceiling. There are certainly electronics for that. Or recess it in the space so you can install an electric roller blind to cover it.

Did you not already make a decision when you devoted most of a wall to a screen?

What sort of screen? A huge flat tv? Something else? Why cover it at all?

If its a smart tv? Go online and download ART for it. IT WON'T BE THE "BLACK HOLE".

Or.perhaps the furniture needs a new look, to go with the media space.Who knows......there is no picture/s of the space.

Thanks all for your feeback. Pictures added. The flat screen TV is too big to come up from a bench. Coming down from the ceiling might be an option but I'm concerned it would spoil the look of the ceiling. I was thinking of some kind of panelling, roller blind or even curtain which can be electronically opened but wasnt sure how it might look.

Just hang it from the wall or get a console and be done with it. It is not so large that it will look that obtrusive, It is a large TV and is what it is. Quite honestly something to hide it will look more obtrusive.

IMO you decided to make this a media room so let it be one That TV is the king and IMO anything you do to hide it will just look worse. I like Besta from Ikea for the cabinet underneath and a bit of display decor if you must .

Get that cabinet out from left corner of fire

Get a large rug, a decently proportioned coffee table. Hang the behemoth tv.

It needs no more media coverage than the hang, (except the sound will shake you right out of the room)

In our previous house we also turned our "formal living" room into our main TV room and it worked well for our family.

In my current house we have a separate room that was designed as a media room, but we also wanted a TV in the main living area open to the kitchen. I did not want to see a "black hole" in the main living area, so I have a Samsung 75" Frame TV that displays art when not being used. I also added a picture frame from DecoTV Frames.

If you have a smart TV then I would see if you can display digital art or your own photos, and have a frame around the TV.

Another idea is to have some type of sliding, barn or hinged doors designed to attach to a box frame around the TV. Doesn't look like you will have room for 2 sliding doors, but smaller and overlapping doors could work, just requires additional tracks above.

I agree. I don't see anything formal about your room. You might as well continue decorating the room as casual.

I spent months trying to figure out a way that our 55" tv wouldn't dominate our living room. I looked at folding panels, art work on canvass hinged as a panel to disguise it, TV projectors, on and on. In the end, we moved the TV to a guest studio and watch it in there instead.

It sounds like you have done just that - moved the TV to a room that is made for TV. You even call it a cinema room. Your furniture makes it look like you will only sit in here when you are set up to watch tv. Is that right?

I think I'd just leave it be or paint the wall a dark color - doesn't have to be black - could be another delicious dark color. Some people create gallery walls, but I think you have a nice clean space without junking it up with a bunch of frames on the wall.
