Family Room Set Up

Hello Houzz,
Need some help making over this family room.
- See layout below. I want the largest couch I can fit, the problem is the “x” are doors and paths that need to be cleared. One is entry from garage and the other is a sliding door to the outside. Is there a better position for the couch?
- Above the fireplace, I will place a tv. I was going to paint the cabinet and entire wall and mantle a dark grey color. Any other ideas how to make this space more appealing? Thanks.

If you plan on plopping the sectional in the center of the room you'll need 3ft on each side in order to walk by. That limits the size of your sectional to 9ft-9 inches.This sectional is about the largest you can expect to use.

PROlast yearIt could be a good idea to try a sofa with two to four chairs, depending on how many people you need to seat and the measurements of the furniture. You'll see below, how a sectional takes up quite a bit more room than a sofa and chairs. Plus you can adjust the layout easier with a sofa and chairs.
