Hmm. Will you be taking Zoom/Teams calls for work from that desk? If so, I might consider converting the closet to a desk alcove and then putting up some interesting wallpaper or art work on the opposite wall. Don't know that I would want my colleagues seeing my laundry baskets full of clothes in the background.

That Whirlpool washer is better than anything on the market today ... did it need a repair for which the part has become unavailable?

I do miss the washer but it became unrepairable after several repairs in the past 10 years. Not A professional office. No zoom calls.

How much do you want to spend?

That is the real question, because you have plenty of space to accomplish what you want.

I would rip it all out, including closet, and do lower drawers and upper cabinets around the left side of the room and one other wall and also countertop over the W & D.

My first house had an even smaller laundry/office. We hung a floor to ceiling curtain across the laundry area, and put shelves above the washer and dryer.

Replace the top loader washer so you can install a counter over top; replacing laundry basket with an open cabinet for litter box.. Now you have a solid surface over washer/dryer/cabinet.

Desk under window.

Keep the cat inside...so much safer. I had a cat door for my sweetie. After ten years she didn't come home on night. I thought a coyote got her...no, it was an owl.

Poor cat. I knew someone that had their small chihuahua taken by an owl when they let the dog out to pee one night.

I would get a floor to ceiling multi perch set up at the window for kitty. Then figure out the rest, lol.

Since we don't know your budget, here are two small things:

Start with installing a wall mounted clothes bar like this over the dryer: https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/mulig-clothes-bar-white-30179435/ There are fancier versions with shelves above. $10-$200 Then move out the round clothes rack and small table. Empty the closet, wipe down the shelves and decide what to keep there.

The cat will sit on the desk unless you provide a more attractive cat place. A tall $100 cat perch that goes a bit higher than the desk could be favored by the cat at least some of the time.

It already looks pretty good. It really depends how much time you spend in there. If it's only occasionally I'd spend your money elsewhere. It's a good utility room - neat and clean.

I'm just now seeing this. Funny, but my cousin rented a house for her family for our family reunion last week that looked very much like Chispa's last photo of traditional, with the blue walls. The washer and dryer were on pedestals and not stacked.

The desk got the window. The cat was on its own. Her husband is an atty and he spent a day at that desk taking depositions remotely - it worked out just fine 😁 It may have been obvious he was working from a laundry room but it was spotlessly neat, newly remodeled with lovely cabinets.

Would definitely suggest putting the washer/dryer/laundry supplies and everything else into a newly built closet with doors that can be closed while you are using the office for work.
