Measure the area your putting them in make sure you have at least 36 inches between the front of the drawer and other object

If you have plenty of room then go by design/price and if there's deeper than go for that more storage is usually better than less

That is not a standard. You like a dresser. Does it fit in YOUR space given all the other parameters of furniture and architecture in your space. If it hits all the marks its a win.

I agree no real answer and often it is also decided by what oyu need to store in there .

I am not sure how common 24" deep dressers are. Every dresser I have ever owned was 18" deep. I have never wanted the drawers to be deeper.

I would not be able to use a 24" deep dresser with the way my bedroom is currently configured. I would need to move my bed to a different wall.

What size do you have in your current dresser? How does it fit with the other furniture in your room? Did you have enough storage space in your current dresser?

Just a plug to look at Facebook marketplace - there are so many nicely made dressers on there that are 50+ years old and made solidly with real wood - I got a gorgeous one on there last year

I have always had a 24" deep dresser and love them. You can pack a lot in there and have great surface space. However, what matters most is the size of your room and your other furniture. You need to think about the width of the aisles you are creating for walking around your room.
