How would you layout my small living room?

last year

I think there might be a better way to layout my small (11' x 12') living room, but not sure how. Should I have less furniture? Bigger furniture? Both? There might be too much furniture now, but I like having three different seating areas for conversation. I'm open to investing in new furniture, etc. and/or looking at options where things could be moved around as needed. Appreciate any suggestions!

I think your space is nice except for the TV that is too high . Maybe look for a cabinet that is lowwr and maybe lower the art behind the sofa and a nice bit more interesting pice also hung lower where you have the other piece .

You could put the TV on the long wall (where the sofa is now) and the sofa on the window wall. A TV console about 2/3 the width of the wall would look nice. Then armless chair to left of TV and the other chair to the right of TV.

Looks like the TV is on an articulating arm so it can be pulled out and tilted for better viewing.

Move the blue chair onto the rug a bit more.

Add art (1 large or several pieces) over the sofa.

I would mount the TV on the wall to the Left of the window, or just move the whole console.

Center the sofa on the wall where it is currently, and move the gray occasional chair to the end of the sofa facing the window and TV.

swap that interesting wall mounted light fixture with the one above the sofa.

any thoughts on drapery panels on either side of the window(s) at least the long wall for light control while watching TV. Yes, front legs of furniture ON the rug. plant (s) near the window opposite the sofa.

    Your room needs drapery panels.

Art over the sofa that has color and texture

Get rid of those light-up squares on the wall

Move the sofa down from the corner and place a shaded table light on the end table in the corner.

On the interior solid wall design wall for the TV. Put the sofa under the window of the front wall.

Appreciate all the suggestions so far! Sounds like maybe it's not too much furniture, just the way it is laid out. And I hadn't thought about drapes or a larger art piece, but I can see now how that would help. Giving me lots to think about/play around with. If any other ideas, please send. Thank you.

Just a few little adjustments. You need more appropriate window treatment, either roman shades if you don't have room for side curtains.

The front of you sofa and chair legs should all sit on the area rug. I would bring the navy chair on the left forward and the one in front of the window I would move to the left, away from the plant (those items are all too close to one another). The metal sculpture above you sofa is too small and much too high. I suggest you replace with a large canvas in colours and subject you like that will coordinate with your decor. The artwork above the navy chair is also too high.

For drapery panels, do they need to be the same color as the walls (which is Ben Moore Simply White) or could I do a natural color like these (this is from West Elm)?

The chairs look uncomfortable because one has no arms and the other has sort of no arms. I would head for the sofa.

The ones you show look fine to me. I prefer a white/natural colour since it's a small room with the 2 small windows so the draperies will dress-up the space without taking it over.

You might just consider looking at placing the sofa on the wall where the console and TV are, and then flipping the console and TV to where the sofa is. Then look at adding curtains to the windows in the room.

Would you be open to reversing the layout? The sofa might work really well on the window wall, and you can easily add some sort of window treatment so that you don't get glare on the TV.
