IMO all floors should be the same color. The plugs are part of the charm. A large rug would be good in that room.

The walnut pegs are a huge part of the charm of the floor. Nothing should try to minimize that. It‘s the perfect color, as is.

Thank you both. We do have a large area rug - it’s rolled up at the moment while we figure out the floors. Thank you for weighing in on the pegs. We’ll l keep that look as is. Just trying to figure out stain color now — whether to use Provincial or something lighter because of the darkening effect the ceiling already has on that room.

A dark room needs a better lighting plan. Those floors are terrific as is, in the the color that they are. The ceiling looks a bit questionable. Looks like someone ripped down drywall and didn't really understand why it was required. No insulation or air sealing?

Thank you. The ceiling is original to the house and has never been covered. It’s cedar plank. It’s insulated between the cedar plank and the roof. Agree that we need to work on the lighting plan.
