Lobelia cardinalis has been in bloom for several weeks. Eryngium ravenelii 'Charleston Blue' about to bloom, Panicums have been blooming for weeks.

Goldenrod now?!

Goldenrod blooming always signaled the start of the school year in September when I was young. And now so many school districts seem to start in August, so maybe the plant is just reflecting that? !!

I, too, have noticed this year that so many perennials are blooming earlier than ever before. Weird, and I don't much care for it. Dayliles are out of whack, going by far too soon. And Oriental lilies are doing the same. I wonder what will be left in August here in MA, just the phlox, anemones and cimicifuga... Not looking forward to the upcoming dearth of bloom...

I have several Going Bananas daylilies which have always bloomed for me a couple weeks after Stella, and then continued blooming for me until a hard freeze. This year, they bloomed in very early June, and have since not rebloomed at all. Very sad.

Rouge, that’s crazy about the goldenrod!! Ours in our wild meadow (mostly grassess, but some good stuff too) isn’t blooming yet.

I have two Lemon Queens and they’ve also started to bloom. I’m not ready for summer’s end, boo hoo.
