That is in no way ever an accepted industry installation practice. Only a hack would suggest that. It will have huge issues that will cause a full tearout of the new and old floor both. Skip paying twice for a floor. .

We have covered a Brazilian cherry floor with LVP on the entire main level. In this case, you only need to add 1/4". The baseboards should not need to be removed; instead, add white base shoes against your baseboards.

Will your appliances still fit in the raised floor level? This is definitely an issue for most dishwashers.

The answer is no .We proably need a bit more info but the repercussions of adding another level of flooring are often things you never even thought of . Your DW is one for sure . Why can you not refinish ? How it that floor attached to the sub floor ?

Our current floors are glued to the slab floor. we will be remodeling the kitchen at the same time. We can’t refinish these engineered floors because of some top coat or something like that.

It wasn't Cherry eng. floor, it was Luxury Vinyl Plank which is fairly thin, 1/4" with pad.
