Help me decide on wet room layout

this is the current proposed layout of our master wetroom. I am thinking about moving the tub to the center, parallel to the back wall, with one big window behind it, and having the shower heads on each side. without changing the dimensions of the room, it would leave about 3ft of space on each side of the tub. would it feel too crowded that way? i think it would make the tub and window more of a focal point. the vanities are 70” so if I needed to take a few inches from them to make the shower slightly deeper i could

Sorry but wet room bathrooms are IMO really silly why do you want to have to wipe down the tub when all you did was shower . I ssume you have toliet room so at least that does not get involved . I see no reason in tht size bathroom to have awet room you had space for a nice sized shower the tub and a nice double vanity .

I would not place the tub diagonally.

Why is it that no one can actually respond to the question I posed and instead has to give opinions on things not even asked for? 🤨🤪

Because we don't read very carefully in our eagerness to share our opinions.

You clearly have not been here long 🤪

if i had to do a wetroom i would not want the tub in the middle of it making my luxurious new shower more cramped and risk getting more water splatter/mold going on…. you would also have to add more feet to wet room and why when you have space as is for tub and good sized enclosed shower?

I wouldn't want the tub angled into the corner for visuals. But I can understand with that layout why the corner might be the better orientation. I have a 30" shower in one of the bathrooms, and a 36" wouldn't be much better. Unless you have a good reason of two people bathing in there on the regular, having two small 36" shower areas on either side of the tub would be awkward. If you have a tub in your wetroom at all, make sure you leave good clearance around it for cleaning.

If you want a window in there, you will have to make sure it's exterior level waterproofed. A window in a bathroom is one thing, but a window in the active water area is another.

I suggest posting the whole suite layout as something better may be seen. Your architect is ok with the window change from an exterior perspective?

That's not really big enough to not get the tub all water spattered. Or to give enough space around the tub, to access it for cleaning. It's just 40K big enough to make both showering and tubbing be cold and very laborious to clean afterwards.

Dear HU - as the OP: we answer with "opinions" when what you're designing is, as Patricia says, silly. Concept of a wet room is beyond me. Drown everything in sight and have to wipe it all down? Or if your staff going to do that for you? Sheesh. Rethink, please.

    Dumb fad. Even *with* staff.

The amount of snark in these comments is amazing. I asked for opinions on the layout, whether or not you think it is ”silly” is beside the point. The wet room is what my husband and I decided would work best for our family, not anyone elses. You guys have just guaranteed that i will never come to this site looking for opinions again. i believe there was maybe one helpful comment above

If you put the tub centered on the wall with a big window how exactly would the rain shower work?

I would definitely put the tub flush against the small wall. this can be achieved if you opt for a smaller tub, or alternatively opt for smaller countertops.

After the comments, go with what you want. Please alert your housekeeping
team so they can procure the correct tools to handle the cleaning.

Look past the snark and see that people are trying to save you from two ideas that will both result in daily headaches. That corner tub will be an impossible cleaning situation, and a centered tub will, as others said, make two cramped unpleasant showers. An alcove tub would work much better.

i am obsessed with my wet room. Ignore nasty comments, listen to thoughtful advice and choose what is best for you, I would not put the tub on an angle personally but if you love it make sure you get a hand sprayer with your shower so you can clean. I love my wet room and i have small open areas around my tub that i spray to clean and its no big deal. Also my tub does get wet when i shower and i do not care, its a bath tub designed to get wet. I do squegee the floor and walls after every shower to avoid mold. Would my bathroom be nicer if it was bigger? Sure. But it is what it is. I wanted a tub and i did not want to climb into a tub to shower daily so here i am. Built for me, not for resale!

IMO if you do not want the answer do not ask the question . You have a lot of pro info given and if you did not want it then don't pose the question period .

@Patricia Colwell Consulting i think she’s asking for help with kindness. ”I would recommend you try…” vs adding adjectives such as ”silly” and ”dumb.”

this is the current proposed layout of our master wetroom

    - This window that might move to the center, what is it made of? Will shower water reaching it? If so, moving it to the middle will be a big negative. On the other hand, if it's going to be glass blocks, it can take the water. Remember: Water will work against you 24/7 -- this is an area where you need to think function-first.

    - It seems to me the tub in the middle would create an obstacle for walking to the showers.

    - And if you have two showers on the sides, you'd have to keep both stocked with shampoo, etc. It'd be a constant headache.

    - You're considering THREE shower heads. Be sure your installer puts them on separate controllers -- yeah, you'd think that'd be an automatic, but you know what assuming gets you.

    - It's good practice to place your shower controllers near the shower door (so you can reach in and turn on the water without submitting your body to the initial cold spray), but this'll be impossible with this layout, as the doors'll be glass.

    - If you do two showers, I think you'll need a drain on both sides. This'll make for complicated plumbing lines.

    - Where will you hang towels?

Cleaning the tile in that tub corner would be a booger.

True. The hand-held showers won't reach that far. You can add a hand-held shower head to your tub -- would be very useful for cleaning the room as well as yourself.

Sorry but wet room bathrooms are IMO really silly why do you want to have to wipe down the tub when all you did was shower

I see no reason to wipe down the tub after showering, but this type of room isn't well-received on this board, which leads me to believe it's not a solid plan. When this board is solidly united against something, it's almost always because it's a bad idea.

What is the motivation for housing everything in the shower enclosure? You seem to have ample space to keep the tub outside this wet area. When something is rarely done, it's usually because it's quite expensive or because it doesn't function well.

Why is it that no one can actually respond to the question I posed and instead has to give opinions on things not even asked for? 🤨🤪0

Because sometimes you're asking the wrong questions, and you don't even know you're doing it.

The wet room is what my husband and I decided would work best for our family, not anyone elses.

How did you come to this conclusion? Have you seen such a room in person? We're not pushing to be catty -- we're trying to help you design something that'll work in the long run.

What a great illustration of something impossible to clean around!

It may be a moot point to carry on since the OP seems to have left the conversation a while ago. Wetrooms can be one of those personal prefrence things, and this forum is heavily biased against them. The OP might have figured that out and moved on to a forum with more facilitating advice to their preference.
