Sun Power might be a good fit?

Old_dirt I really appreciate the recommendation. I agree they are good dopplegangers - Unfortunately, Sun Power is much too large for the spot I have. I'm hoping to find sometging with the stature of Fire Island.

How about Tickle Me Pink, Coast to Coast, Cranberry Wine or Maui Buttercups?

How about Inniswood or Gold Standard? Both can take a fair amount of sun and turn parchment colored by end of the summer. Don’t put August Moon in sun, even though it’s listed as sun tolerant. I moved mine three times because it was frying in any sun. It’s in almost total shade now.

I had Maui in my sun bed, but it also fried badly. Now it’s potted and in the hosta hospital! 🤣

What about Marrakesh?

Thank you to everyone for the generous suggestions! I think Marrakech looks like the best doppleganger but I am very curious about many of these!!

Marrakesh is lovely but not on the sun tolerant list but neither is Cranberry Wine. I grow CW in sun. nhl may have experience with Marrakesh. http://www.hostalists.org/hosta_list_sth.php

I think you're right peren.all about the amount of sun that Marrakesh will take. Sorry Ian, it might not be a good choice for a lot of sun.

I know this is the hosta forum but have you considered a heuchera with yellow green leaves? The size seems like it would fit and they are sun tolerant especially in the conditions you describe.

Just a note Ian, not sure how familiar you are with the Rawson’s Lists peren mentioned…..check them out. They have lists for everything. Sun tolerant, slug resistant, leaf shape,size, texture, Hosta colors, flower colors, etc. They are a great resource. I use them all the time and have printed a few so I have them on hand.

I would try a heuchera. They like sun and also do well with hostas. A nice addition to a hosta bed. Adds variety
