As I understand it, C. atlantica is viewed as a subspecies of C. libani.. I do prefer the atlantica as I love the blue/gray color but also have read that C. atlantica is more tolerant in the East of tropical humidiy in the Summers. Not sure where macranthos is, but same here in NJ, C. atlantica is all over the and libani are here but not as prominent.

Macanthros, 'key' doesn't match? I don't understand what's meant by that.

The large cones, longer needles and dark green spelled libani but that's why I'm asking. :-)

Macranthos knows his stuff so his id threw serious doubts on my analysis.

But then later the next day I saw this one with smaller cones, with bluer, shorter needles.

To me the above is atlas cedar making the original post libani.

School me on this anyone. :-)

BTW I looked up id key so I understand that .

Agree it's Blue Atlas cedar. Form suggests it too.

From the needle pic, I had wondered about deodars (they are popular in my UK hometown- I have a golden one ( aureum)- but am am inclined to come down in the Atlas camp as deodars are distinctly weeping in form.
