We have The American Green Tree Frogs and also teeny tiny Squirrel Tree Frogs here. I see both on the roses and they seem to live together fairly harmoniously. I am in N FL Panhandle near the Gulf Coast. My old house was near Jacksonville on the Atlantic Coast. The same kinds of frogs are here on the new property as the old one. We had more invasive Cuban Tree Frogs at the old property that will eat up native frogs and lizards. I haven't seen as many here. I have been a little obsessed with these little guys and they are on of the main reasons I dont spray. They eat up a lot of bugs and at my old house they would show up right as the thrips hatched out in spring. The thrips mysteriously disappeared after the frogs arrived. At this new farm, the frogs are still learning where the roses are and when the bugs arrive. They ARE learning though!! I expect to have even more frogs here due to several natural ponds on the property. You can help them out by placing water tubs with lotus or waterlilies in them near your roses.

Waterlily tubs at night w a flashlight..if ypu can get some big leafy plants or small trees near your tubs it also helps.

susan9santabarbara Thanks! It was taken with my phone camera when I was home for lunch today. I don't always carry my DSLR. This was the 2nd time this summer I found a tree frog in a rose.

I have no idea how it got in there.

What a cute photo! The ree frogs here seem to like roses too. They hop around at night eating bugs and doing wild froggy things then lounge in the petals during the day.

How enchanting!! Before Sultry started posting her froggy/rose pictures years ago, I never would have thought that frogs and roses go together. And now Mark has them too!!

rosecanadian In the 1990s I was a regular viewer/poster here. I am mostly a seasonal poster, now. I had not seen Sultry's posts of frogs in roses heretofore because of my limited involvement here. Her photos are quite a sight.

I have seen tree frogs in previous years in my neighborhood, including one tree frog the size of my palm on the street, and another little one clinging to my steel walk-in garage door. Until this year, I had never seen one in a rose bloom.

This has been a wet summer and toads are everywhere. Reminds me of the 1950s Alfred Hitchcock film about birds because as we go for a walk I am concerned my wife or I will step on a toad.

Mark - really! That sounds kind of disturbing. :) Toads everywhere...so weird! I've never seen a live frog or toad in my life. :)

Thank you for the compliments on the little frogs. I hadnt ever thought frogs were into roses either until After the first year at my old place when I totally quit spraying. I had seen a few before that, here & there but after stopping chemicals (sprays) the frog population just exploded..right after the bug population, of course lol. I do find these little frogs in plenty of other plants like bananas, vine flowers, gladiolas (I call them the No Tell Frog Motels) They get into the greenhouse in the winter and hang out on the ceiling where the heat rises, to stay warm at night.

More than once, I've had a frog jump on my face in the greenhouse, out of nowhere, and about scare me to death lol!

Sultry - that would be VERY startling. lol I love having a yard that bees, ladybugs, lacewings, birds can thrive in...frogs would be a totally new level. lol

I never get tired of seeing the frog pictures. Usually they are peeking out from petals but on Teasing Georgia you get to see the whole frog.
