I am hoping to get some advice on kitchen layouts for an upcoming remodel. I have been playing around in the kitchen planer and have come up with two options: one with a penninsula style (mirroring current layout with minor modifications) and one with an island. Our kitchen space is not huge, ~13x18 and we currently have a dining table squeezed in on one side of the penninsula but are not utilizing any seating,despite an overhang. We have a living room adjacent to the kitchen that has space to accommodate a dining table so we can relocate our dining space.

We have a large window in our kitchen ~51” wide but it is only 19” from the floor. The room does not have a lot of natural light so I would like to avoid changing that window if possible. If we do not go with an island, I like the idea of banquette seating if we can make that work.

Our current refrigerator is not counter depth so it is a bit imposing on our kitchen space but it is only two years old so we are hoping to avoid puchasing a new fridge.

I would appreciate any advice/feedback on either of these layouts.
