All is quiet on the quilting front

It looks as if everyone is taking a break from quilting or not talking about it.

I am currently working on DGGS’s quilt. It took me some time to decide on what to do. I would think I had it sorted, but going to sleep at night, I would realize that it wouldn’t work, so back to square one.

I finally got all my math skills fired up and we are now in the sewing stage. It is a very simple design and is going well. We have company this weekend or I would be at the machine finishing it up.

It is hard to believe that summer is almost over, where did it go!!

But Fall brings its own goodness for which we can be glad.

I hope everyone is well, it is too quiet here.

I have a couple tops pieced, but haven't gotten them sandwiched yet. I have also been sewing purses for the SewPowerful project. I'm at 39 finished and 8 more cut and in the assembly process.

Besides sewing, we have a guest bathroom gutted. I painted while the contractor is waiting for the new bathtub - hopefully delivered tomorrow. In the meantime, he can't tile or do anything else. I have tile, toilet, vanity all in my garage. The countertop/sink is ready to deliver, but they can't install that! UGH. We also got new windows so I have sanded and am staining and varnishing the insides. So much fun!

DH tested positive for Covid today, so that has been bad news, too. He started feelin icky on Tuesday, so I have been sleeping in the guest room so I still feel okay. Hope that continues!

Nine and seven year old grandsons are visiting from out of town. Sewing machine etc is all packed up in a bedroom out of harms way until they leave next week.

I have not sewn in quite a while. I have severe Carpal Tunnel in both hands and it has just not been possible. I have my first surgery next week. Then several weeks later will do the other hand. Hopefully it will be a success and I will get back to doing things with my hands.

Jackie, good luck with your surgery! It’s not fun, but relieving the pain and numbness will be worth it.

And my DH will be having surgery on the 10th. Five years ago he had a melanoma removed from his forehead. Well, it has reappeared and will require a larger area removed. He wasn’t too sure whether he wanted to do it, since as he told the surgeon, ’I am 93 years old’ . If this surgery goes as the last one did, he should be well healed in short order. One daughter is coming to be the in-house nurse. We would appreciate any good thoughts that day.

Prayers for your hubby. It is a tough decision, but he will do well and have more years with you!
