Need help with exterior entryway color

My husband and I live in a 1970s ranch. The front entryway has an overhang as you can see from the photo. Very shaded at times which makes it appear dark & uninviting. I was thinking of using the house color (SW Summit Gray) and having it lightened by 50%. Using the light color also on the garage door. The front door and shutters are stained.
Has anyone done something similar?
