Do you mean between the dining room and the den. Why do you need a door? 8' opening between the tow rooms is great.

Elcieg- yes the den. We really would like the option to close that space off and provide some room separation. For the next 10 years or so it will be a grandchildren’s playroom. After that, hoping to be a sitting room.

You might also be able to create somethig with solid panel doors that slide past one another to stack against each other at the wall at the far end of the den. I did something similar to hide my ac units inside - 3 solid door panels hanging from a frame that allows them to slide past one another. Maybe two 4 foot wide doors that can be pushed to stack at the far end?

Dining room tables do not extend through doorways. They extend into living roomswhere the distinction between the two rooms is totally arbitrary.

So you have one, large, L shaped room. Normally, the living room is the entire upstroke. However, the dining room can become the entire lower leg.

Get a Nanawall interior door.

Any door on that opening is going to take floor and wall space. You won’t be able to have furniture on the walls with the door open. Draw in the doors and add the arc they need to travel to open and close. Can you give up that floor and wall space?

We have bifold french doors between LR and DR. i think it’s only a 7 ft span but we definitely extend table to the doorway for major holidays! totally reasonable for the 1x or 2x yearly that we do it. we leave one half of each of the bifold doors closed so they are pretty flat.
