Glads overwinter in container 7b/8a?

last year

Can I overwinter glads in the container they grew in this season? It's been hit-or-miss with glads surviving the winter in-ground when we were 7b but the USDA map upgraded us to 8a. I'm thinking the survival rate will increase for the in-ground corms now that we're 8a, but I planted a bunch in containers for the first time and not sure about those. Also, my immediate neighborhood seems to be in a weird micro-climate since across the street and all around us is still 7b (when you zoom all the way in on the USDA map). So, I'm thinking we're still "sort of" 7b and not as warm as an 8a winter.

Should I dig up the container ones? (not now, after they die back). Leave in container but somehow insulate them (big mulch mound, blanket?)? These are resin containers - 5 and 7 gallon - sitting on the ground. Thanks.
