As you probably saw, I posted that I got my Great Silence from Longfield Gardens. I have been happy with their tubers.

In the past, I bought from Swan Island and Dan's Dahlias. For the last two years I haven't used them. I honestly can't remember why I stopped buying from Dan's (and it's probably been closer to three or four years now) - perhaps it was a small selection? Or maybe pricing? Although a quick google search just now makes me wonder if he's still in business.

Swan Island has a good selection and decent prices, but I stopped buying from them last year. The last two years I lost most of the dahlias I bought from them. I realized that gardening is a risky venture lol, and a company can't always be held responsible for a gardener's methods/practices/mistakes, but what got me upset was that I tried for at least four months last year to contact them and they never responded. I emailed and called. Their system had no problem churning out sales emails to me, but they never responded to my calls or emails. And they DO have a return/replacement policy. So after two years of poor results and that one year of being ignored, I decided I would spend my money elsewhere. Too bad, as they really do have good selection and prices. Perhaps you can try them - maybe I just had bad luck with their tubers and you will do better.

Last year I also bought a few sale dahlias from Bluestone Perennials, and was pleased with them.

I have a LOT of tubers so I don't buy too many each year, but I am on the lookout as well for a good vendor. As I mentioned about Longfield in the other thread, they sell their tubers in packages of 2 or 3, and I would prefer to usually buy one (for less money) and spend the other money on another variety. So I'm hoping to get some ideas too from this thread!

P.S. You might want to post this to another forum - perhaps perennials or annuals?? I find both the dahlia forum and the NE forum are sadly pretty slow. You might get more responses at another forum!

My Swan Island purchases were good but that was at least3-4 years ago. I checked out Longfield - interesting selection but like you noted, purchase are 2 + tubers which is not preferable since 2 tubers become 4+ the next year. I like more variety and prefer to buy 1 at a time. i may try Swan Island again simply because of the variety they sell

My first real year growing dahlias intentionally. I was directed to Triple Wren Farms because they are very careful about nviruses , and I was pleased with the rooted cuttings I got. Just ordered tubers for April 2026! They have Dahlia Days coming up soon. Wish I could go.

Thanks for the heads up on Triple Wren Farms. I just went to their website and they have some great offerings. All sold out now, which is good lol, because I just potted up 92 sprouted tubers and have 4 trays of unsprouted ones under a watchful eye - the last thing I need is more tubers!

But I will definitely check them out later in the season. I always add at least 4-5 new varieties to my garden each year and they won't make it easy to decide!
