NOT Kousa Dogwood?

Sigh. Many years ago, I ordered several trees through the Arbor Foundation. It wasn’t long before I realized that what was supposed to be a dark pink flowering crabapple was actually an ordinary white-flowering apple tree. Now I’ve finally realized that what was my Kousa Dogwood (Cornus kousa) is probably actually Cornus florida! I’d like a proper ID.


We had an extremely mild winter and the tree bloomed magnificently in May… the flowers were much larger than usual! I’ve never seen seedpods on the tree before, but it’s showing some now and they don’t look right. What tree did they send me here?
