But your "ideal beachy flavor" even with paint and new light counter tops? Done Pro spray and to last?? Ugg I feel for you. The cabinetries design is awesome but you need GALLONS of white paint for sure. Soo much of this kitchen was done well. Sadly for a lasting finish I don't think it's a DIY. 30K Jan really? YIKES that's prohibitive! I can't imagine it costing that much to replace them all. Sooo blessed not to live in that world! Repeat........ Painting cabinetry is a big decision. Can you do a good job on your own? For the cost of the paint and elbow grease? Yes.

Could you DIY the cabinetry to a white? Yes. Add pendants over the island? Yes. Change cabinet hardware yes. But again, I'd bet that is a Wood Mode kitchen and NOT inexpensive.

The counters are dark, and a replacement in any light material /solid surface ? Not less than 12k from what I am seeing.

Your $$$ begin at the removal of all those., the removal of all hardware including hinges. The framework of cabinetry is painted with same on site. the drawers and doors re installed/adjusted. Now matter where this kitchen is located? Spell KACHING"$$$

lighten up...means what ? ...there is a large volume of cabinetry which is not a light look. I'd look seriously at that left wall for some editing. is there a dining room or somewhere to repurpose that display oriented and extra storage? then you could eventually make better seating for the island....... overhang and stools to face the window for example.....I'd be thinking improvements.....I'd avoid just surface changes right now...the blue is attractive no reason to rush. I'd live with it for a while and think over this VERY LARGE space and what opportunities you have compared to how it functions now. How many feet across and how long is this space?

running the stools down the length of island to face out the window is always a nicer / more inviting situation. If an island reconfiguration is worth your time and effort the left wall base cabinets can possibly be used.

To me, the blue cabinets read “beachy” to me. I would paint clean them up with the same blue color they are now. Update the ceiling lights, to flat ones.
Change out your stools to rattan ones. Add a woven shade that match the stools to the header over window. Change out the hardwood to brushed gold.

if it were me, I’d clean up some details first - declutter wherever you can, on the open shelves in the corner: I’d try one piece of white ironstone on each shelf to simplify that corner, for the island: try to corral fruit and other items in large white crocks and bowls, simplify what is on the window shelf by the sink, add a charming cordless lamp where the bananas are, Etc….

I would want different counter stools, maybe something from Serena & Lily that jibes with your floor?

IMO change all the light bulbs to LED 4000K then see if the sapce feels differnt I think the color is a nice change from all the white or wood . The cost of the bulbs is minimal and honestly that is where I would start.

"don't want to spend too much" says it all. You aren't going to do anything substantial without spending a fair amount of money.

I'd try to change out some accessories. Replace the bar stools with something more casual and beachy, in a textured woven wood or rattan. Add some light colored striped runners/rugs. Replace the recessed lighting over the island with pendants. Have a faux Roman shade made in a light patterned fabric for over the bay window. Get some lighter colored accessories for your counter tops--vases, perhaps a lamp, etc.

Beach stripe cushions on your bar stools and striped kitchen towels would lighten up the mood.

Striped towels started trending up again in the last year or so. Now there's a good selection in many colors.

@Diana Bier Interiors, LLC Striped towels went through a lull for the last five years or so. Then they popped up again recently in catalogs, online and in stores. I've seen lots of striped upholstery for outdoors in my California area, but indoors, mainly in custom upholstery, not ready-made, for the last decade or two. Even striped silk dupioni popular for curtains in the 1990's is pretty rare. I think the traditional floral patterns with matching stripes popular back then is not a look that has come back.

Do you do much cooking? I notice the range is crowded with wall ovens on one side and a toaster oven on the other - which leaves no space for cooking.

It is a lovely kitchen! But I see the wear you're talking about in the close up.

As others have said, decluttering would do wonders to lighten the fell of the space. If you do use the stovetop, I would move the toaster oven to the left wall, after finding a new home for the cookbooks, etc. Undercabinet lighting would do wonders to lighten things up.

You can take a drawer to the paint store to get a couple or three custom-matched blue paints for touch up. If you live in a major metropolitan area, there are professional painters who specialize in custom decorative work who can do a wonderful job of touch up.

If cabinet nicks can be touched up and your budget allows, consider new counters/backsplash (complement flooring‘s shade). To save $, use butcher block on island and subway backsplash and kitchen will feel 100% lighter and fresher.

Add lighter, small scaled stools if using three and pendants would be a nice addition.

Beautiful kitchen! It does seem a bit heavy though. I would start by putting in white subway tiles for the backsplash and better lighting and see if that doesn’t lighten things up.

Always turn on the lights when taking pictures. Lack of light gives everything a hint of gray. I love this kitchen, but the black countertops are too dark. Get the floors cleaned, and then choose lighter countertops. So once the floors are cleaned, turn on the lights and take pictures and come back here for suggestions. New knobs and pulls with a bit of bling and shine will help brighten things. Get a sample of high gloss paint that matches your cabs, and do the touch up yourself. Also get a small can of glaze since it looks like your cabs are glazed. Practice on pieces of wood before you touch up the actual cabinets.

I know what you're saying about striped custom fabrics and upholstery, apple, but Williams Sonoma has been offering striped dish towels forever, they may change the colors, but I've been getting them for over 20 years. Also Dash and Albert is famous for their cotton striped rugs and runners. Cabana stripes for outdoor seating has also not ever taken a break--Pottery Barn has had them for years, as well as FrontGate and others.

Heavy silver trash cans can go somewhere els? Yes lighter beachy rattan stools, bright colorful runners, de clutter, white cutting boards in a few choice spots or light wood against the back splash area, bright florals in a corner, perhaps lighting in the glass uppers and pendent lighting above island like the ones posted would be very nice. New brighter hardware to go with stools, rugs and pendants.

Staying in a budget, you could also touch the wine bottle storage compartment in your island with a lighter paint color. A good enamel furniture paint would make good coating there.

I do like your existing cabinets. IMO it's the countertops that are making the room appear dark.

Honestly? If the cabinets are mostly in good shape (I happen to like the color very much!), I'd leave it all alone. Agree with the suggestions to bring in a runner and go with different counter stools.

I’d leave the cabinets alone, blue is about as beachy as you can get. Update counters and backsplash to something light. I like the idea of subway tiles and marble like granite. Add some light, bleached wood decor. And if you have the money redo the floors in a light wood LVP.

Redoing flooring will need to co exist with adjoining area IMO. Does the kitchen travertine extend into the other area? Depends on your budget bitsof? If you are getting floor cleaned and restored (?) could make a nice difference with the other mentioned changes. What do you mean by restored?

Only the OP knows the budget, and while all advice above is good, the OP needs to make a decision based on the budget.
