Is the gateleg table a piece you want to keep even if it’s moved? My thought about both it & the lamp table are that neither are placed far enough forward to easily set a cup on them when sitting on the sofa. Easy fix with lamp table - just pull it forward a tad. The gateleg table - is there space for it under the art hanging to the right of it - just outside that entry way to room? It seems like a nice narrow piece for a hall. Or, could you swap it with the white table next to brown recliner? If there’s room for table there, the white end table might be just the right size for that end of sofa where table is now. Can the brown chair be angled a bit towards the sofa? The rug size is ok but not great. It seems skimpy on chair side of room & it’s not balanced on the sofa. I would center it on the sofa so that means pulling sofa away from window which can be done if gateleg table moved out. But your art is centered on sofa so it’d need to move too. Might be easier to move the rug towards the window just a bit so that same amount of rug is on each side of sofa - that will look better & is the first thing you see when entering this room from stairs. Then, fiddle with chair placement on or off rug. Try the wood arm chair over by window. The lamp table will be between it & the sofa so a good use of it for anyone seated in chair or sofa.

I’ll also move the rug as you suggested. unfortunately the gateleg table is too long to switch with the little white table. I have no attachment to the gateleg table so would love a suggestion on size and shape for a table at that end. Thinking not round because of one at other end. Wood may be too heavy.

I'd like a more symmetrical look in that small room, so I'd consider adding an identical table lamp to the other side to replace the gateleg table, and find a new home for the picture and things on the table. I like a rug, but maybe something with more texture like a sisal rug.

I love this Beverly. Some will work. Unfortunately my partner is mobility challenged and a coffee table wouldn’t work there. It would be an impediment for getting to and from sofa. But thank you for some great ideas!

How does one watch TV from the sofa with the TV at that angle? Move the sofa towards the window and place the brown chair where the gateleg table is at an angle to the TV.

You have two little tables to squeeze in. Then square off the TV and stand...or at least the stand.

Can you try placing the chairs on either side of the sofa instead of where they are currently? It seems like that might work a lot better for a layout.
